8/10/02
It was a nice night for racing. This week Jenny started
2nd row inside, after timing 3rd with a 17.167. With a very loose car,
Jenny had her hands full as Stover and Bowyer slipped by. On lap 12,
the 86 of Benedict spun in turn two and the race was restarted with
Jenny still running 5th. Holding off lots of pressure from behind,
Jenny was able to hang on to a solid 5th place finish.
8/3/02
A hot, muggy night at the races! Timing 2nd with a
17.000, inverting 3 rows, Jenny started the race on the outside of row
3. Starting behind the 9 of Knoll, who fell off the pace when the green
flag dropped, Jenny was forced to the back of the field. One by one she
moved her way through the pack. However, on lap 26, the 8 of Stover got
into the back of the 97 of Hartford. Jenny then went to the outside to
take advantage of the situation, but instead was hit by Stover, causing
her to spin. With both cars restarting at the back, Jenny managed to
make her way back up to a 7th place finish.
7/27/02
Tonight started out with Jenny timing 5th at a 17.268.
Since 3 rows were inverted, Jenny started the race on the pole, but
quickly fell to 5th where she had qualified. On lap 6, the 89 of Snow
and the 21 of Foster tangled, causing a restart. Jenny was able to hang
on to a 5th place finish, still maintaining her 3rd place position in
the season points standings.
7/20/02
After another week of late nights and dedication from the
Jenny White Motorsports team, Jenny made a strong come back setting the
fast time for the evening at a 17.041. Inverting 2 rows, Jenny started
second row inside. As the pack worked down to single file, Jenny fell
in line 7th, where she would run until lap 8 when Bowyer was sent to the
back for a spin. By lap 19, Jenny worked her way up to 5th where she
ran for the rest of the night. She should now move up to 3rd in the
current season points standings.
7/13/02
Our luck seemed to be turning around as Jenny qualified
second fastest with a 17.054. With 3 rows inverted she would then start
the feature from the outside of row 3. Unfortunately, that luck quickly
disappeared as polesetter Scotty Martin got into Jeff Klem on the first
lap. It looked as though Jenny was going to make it through the mess,
but Klem then slid back up the track ending the race for both cars.
7/6/02
After a long week of thrashing to get the car back
together, the night of racing began with another fireworks display and
very hot weather. Qualifying was canceled due to technical problems
with the timing light. Late model racers were thus lined up according
to their points standings with a 5 row inversion. Current points leader
John O'Neal also decided to take the $1000 challenge by starting at the
rear of the field. Since Jenny is currently 4th in points, and the 2 of
Klem was unable to make it back this week, Jenny started the race on the
outside of row 5. Experiencing an ill-handling car, Jenny was unable to
make much progress and finished the race in 9th, still maintaining her
4th place points position.
6/29/02
The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat... Coming off
her first I-70 win, Jenny was looking forward to a good finish in this
100 lap feature. Timing 3rd with a 17.070, and a 3 row inversion, Jenny
again started the race 2nd row inside. On lap 21, the 2 of Klem had a
mechanical problem, sending him spinning into the wall. For the
restart, Jenny was running 5th, where she stayed through lap 77, when
the 8 of Stover spun out in turn one. Unfortunately, on this restart
the 0 of Cobb and the 01 of Crane tangled coming to the line. The 4 of
Richards attempted to avoid the accident, but was unsuccessful,
collecting Jenny in the wreck. The resulting damage was too severe to
be repaired, thus ending Jenny's night. This was the first time this
season that Jenny was unable to complete the race and her first finish
out of the top 10.
6/15/02
We finally did it! After timing 5th with a 17.209, Jenny
started the race on the second row inside. On the first lap, cars 0,
89, 27, 8, and 1 were involved in an accident coming off of turn two,
resulting in a complete restart. On the restart Jenny's position did
not change. The green flag fell and Scotty Martin took the lead with
Jenny running 3rd. It took her just a few short laps to get around
Aaron Daniel and about 10 laps to run down and pass Martin, giving her
the lead on lap 14. Jenny went on to lead the rest of the race, holding
off Kent Crane and Clint Bowyer to become the first female to win a late
model feature race in the 33 year history of I-70 Speedway, with a
standing ovation from the crowd!
6/8/02
Timing 7th out of 20 cars, with a 17.348, and again
inverting 3 rows, finds Jenny starting on the inside of row four. The
race runs smoothly with Jenny running in the 7th position, unable to get
a strong enough run to make it around the #97 of Ron Hartford. After
getting into the wall, Scotty Martin in the #25 car enters the pits
moving Jenny up to 6th. On lap 33, Bowyer spins and both Bowyer and
O'Neal are put to the rear of the field placing Jenny in 4th. On the
restart, the #8 of Stover running behind Jenny in the 5th position jumps
the gun, passing before the starting line and is also sent to the back
of the pack. The race finishes with #2 of Jeff Klem in 1st, followed by
the 01 of Kent Crane, the 97 of Ron Hartford, and the 17 of Jenny White.
6/1/02
On June 1, the night of the Late Model Twin 50's races,
Jenny qualified 4th out of 21 cars with a time of 17.119. After
inverting 3 rows, Jenny would start on the outside of the second row.
Unfortunately, it was not until lap 3, while running 8th, that she was
able to move down to the inside lane. On lap 12, Jenny passed the #8 of
Stover, which was soon followed by a tangle between Boyer and Pittman
moving her up to the 5th position. On lap 24, contact between Jenny and
Stover sent her spinning and put her to the back for the restart.
Passing cars right and left, she was able to make her way back up
through the pack for a 7th place finish.
For the second feature of the night, the line up was
determined according to finishing positions in the first race, again
with 3 rows inverted, placing Jenny on the inside of row 4. On lap 5,
Crane and Bowyer tangled, collecting Klem and Stover. Jenny would then
restart in the 5th position. At approximately 12:30pm, on lap 42, the
21 car field had diminished to only 11. Jenny went on to finish 4th,
placing her 5th in the current points standings.
5/26/02
The postponed racing program from last night was resumed
this afternoon at approximately 3pm. Although track conditions weren't
the greatest, all races were completed. Starting 18th in the 24 car
Late Model 100, Jenny was able to steadily race her way up through the
pack and secure a 9th place finish.
5/25/02
Yet once again, no rain, but still no racing. During the
modified heat races it was determined that the track was simply too wet
to continue and was creating unsafe racing conditions. It was announced
earlier in the evening that any races that had to be canceled during the
rest of the season would be made up on the following day. Therefore
qualifying, the Late Model 100, and all other feature races were
rescheduled for Sunday, May 26th.
5/18/02
Well, we almost got to race. Although tonight's race
cancellation was not due to rain, but a countywide blackout which
occurred halfway through late model qualifying. The electricity was not
restored soon enough to resume racing in a timely manner. Therefore,
the 100 lap Late Model Special has been postponed yet once again. It
has been rescheduled for next Saturday, May 25th. Due to the excessive
amount of cancellations this season there may be more schedule changes,
so please check back for updates. We hope to see you all next weekend!
5/11/02
And the rain returns. Sorry race fans, but yet again
there was no racing at I-70 Speedway this weekend. Tonight made for the
fourth rain out of the season so far. Please check the schedule for
updated race dates and hope for some drier weather next weekend.
5/4/02
Finally, beautiful racing weather! After qualifying 5th
with a time of 17.207, the roll of the die inverted 3 rows, putting
Jenny on the pole of tonight’s 40 lap race. She pulled away at the start
and continued to lead the race for the first 21 laps. At this point,
Jenny’s car had begun to get tight allowing O’Neal and Klem to sneak by
her. Finishing 3rd in the race, to past champions, John O’Neal and Jeff
Klem, Jenny is currently 4th in the 2002 points standings, moving up one
position from the last race.
4/27/02
"Looking to trade one complete race team for a large
ark." With each passing week this potential ad is starting to sound
more and more realistic. Tonight made the third rain out of four
scheduled events at I-70 Speedway. Although our chances of finding
someplace to race the ark may have been better in April, so far the
weather is looking good for next weekend. With any luck Mother Nature
will start cooperating with us and we can get this 2002 racing season
underway.
4/20/02
And Mother Nature pulls back into the lead in the battle
against Saturday night racing at I-70 Speedway with a score of 2-1.
This evenings races were cancelled at approximately 3:45 this
afternoon. We better remind everybody to say their prayers for a dry
weekend again and hopefully we will have more to report next weekend.
4/13/02
Finally, we have a start to the 2002 racing season! We
hope you're all as excited as we are. Tonight we concluded the first
night of racing in the 2002 season. Jenny qualified 2nd to past
champion Jeff Klem. With the roll of the die, the inversion for the
start of the feature was determined to be 3 rows placing Jenny on the
outside of the third row. The start of the race was tight, with several
rows of double file racing, but the pack soon singled out. Jenny then
finished the 40 lap feature event in the 5th position.
4/6/02
To all of our disappointment Mother Nature was the only
winner this weekend at I-70 Speedway's Opening Night. The light
sprinkles during hot laps were soon followed by full blown April
showers. We were unable to get in any of the racing we have all waited
all winter for. We hope you will all join us at the track again next
weekend and don't forget to say your prayers for a drier evening.
3/30/02
This afternoon’s test and tune session concluded the
final day of pre-season testing for the JWM team. Everything went well
and we are looking forward to a successful 2002 season. We hope you will
join us next weekend for opening night.
3/24/02
Jenny White Motorsports spent yesterday testing at I-70
Speedway in Odessa, Mo. After a long winter of hard work, we were very
pleased with the results. Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather,
today's scheduled practice session was canceled. We plan to test once
more next Saturday, before putting all of our work to the final test at
I-70 Speedway's opening night on the 6th of April. |
