After the extensive damage it suffered, the #17 car
was still not ready to return to the track this week. The winner of
tonight's Late Model feature event was Rick Carver in the #61.
6/12/04
Due to the extreme amount of damage that was suffered
to the #17 car in last weekend's race and a lack of primary sponsorship
funds, the JWM team was unable to compete in this week's race. The
winner of the Late Model feature event was Jon Knoll in the #9.
6/5/04
Numerous adjustments were made to the JWM #17 car
before returning to the race track after last week's disappointing
finish. The team's efforts initially paid off as Jenny started the heat
race from the outside of the front row and grabbed the early lead from
polesetter Brian Woods to bring home the win. Jenny then started the
feature race from the pole position and once again jumped out to an
early lead. On lap 9, an incident between Tony Pittman and Buddy
Benedict brought out the caution bringing Ronnie Hartford and Rod Cordon
up within striking distance. Lap 12 then saw Hartford challenging Jenny
on the outside for the lead, but he was unsuccessful. Cordon then took
over the second position and on lap 18 he dove under Jenny going into
turn 3 sending her backwards into the wall. Cordon was then sent to pit
lane for rough driving and his subsequent unsportsmanlike actions
resulted in his full year suspension from any events held at I-70
Speedway. The JWM team did the best they could to repair the #17.
Jenny was able to return to the race track, but upon restarting the race
she found the damage to the car to be too severe to continue.

After returning from a trip to Indianapolis
to recognize her accomplishments as a winning female racecar driver, the
17 car seemed to be cursed. Jenny started the heat race from the
outside of row 2. She had a great start jumping out to second place,
but with a bump from Rod Cordon she was shuffled back to third. Jenny
was then challenged for the third position by Buddy Benedict. The two
ran side by side for several laps, but while managing her ill-handling
car Jenny had to give up the position and settle for a 4th place
finish. The JWM team did not participate in last weekend's race,
therefore Jenny then started the feature race from the 10th position.
She quickly fell into 9th on the start, but still fighting an
uncooperative car, she was unable to do much more. On lap 16, the 24 of
Dave Wilson suffered an engine failure moving Jenny up to the 8th
position where she then finished the race.
5/22/04
Jenny did not participate at I-70 Speedway
this weekend as she was personally invited by Lyn St.James to attend the
2nd annual "Women in the Winner's Circle" event in Indianapolis. The
purpose of the event was to recognize and celebrate the achievements of
women in motorsports and to help pave the way for the future growth of
motorsports. Following the fund-raising luncheon, Jenny was chosen to
participate in a panel of four drivers who answered questions and spoke
about their racing careers and future goals. All of the drivers were
then invited to attend a closed roundtable discussion with industry
leaders.

Tonight's CARB night at the races saw Jenny starting
from the 5th position in the Late Model heat race. At the start of the
race, Jenny raced door to door with Dave Wilson in the 24 car to take
over the 4th position. By the time she gained the position the leaders
had already established a healthy lead and Jenny was forced to settle
for a 4th place heat race finish. As a result of winning last weekend's
race, Jenny was to start the feature race in 6th, but was moved to 5th
when Jon Knoll in the #9 elected to start at the tail of the field.
Jenny once again raced side by side with Wilson for the 4th position.
She finally won the battle on lap 6 and then used the remaining 24 laps
to reel in and pass the #61 of Rick Carver resulting in a 3rd place
feature finish.
5/8/04
Finishing second in the heat race behind the #24 of
Dave Wilson, Jenny then started the night’s feature event on the inside
of the third row. On the first lap, Wilson, who started from the third
position, went under the pole setter Larry Clark. Jenny and Rod Cordon
attempted to follow his lead, but were unsuccessful, resulting in a five
car pile up including Jenny’s 17 and the 12, 65, 97, and 18 cars. The
race then restarted with Jenny and the other cars involved at the tail
of the field. She didn’t let the early incident hold her back though,
as she then quickly raced her way up through the field to the 5th
position, when the #18 of Bill Driscoll appeared to have something break
and found himself in the turn two wall. Under the red flag condition,
Ron Hartford, who was leading the race at the time, made a trip to pit
lane for mechanical reasons. Jenny then restarted the race in third and
quickly passed the #9 of Jon Knoll to take over second and chase down
the leader, Dave Wilson. On lap 17, Wilson caught lapped traffic.
Jenny used the slower car to her advantage and maneuvered between the
two to take over the lead. She then maintained a five car length lead
to take the checkered flag for her third win this season.
5/1/04
It was another cold and windy night for racing, but
at least it wasn't raining. After qualifying second fastest in the Late
Model field, Jenny started the feature race on the second row, inside.
What was supposed to be a 75 lap feature event, was shortened to only a
50 lap race after Garrett Stonum, in the #11, spun in turn one sending
him head first into the wall on lap 12. This caused a lengthy red flag
condition as everyone waited for the Life Star helicopter to transport
Stonum from the race track. It was later reported that Stonum was
conscious at the time of transport and suffered no major injuries.
On the restart, Jenny started third, behind Rod
Cordon's #12 and Rick Carver's #61. One lap later, Carver suffered an
engine problem that would end his night early and move Jenny up to
second for the next restart. Jenny was then tight on Cordon's bumper
ready to challenge for the lead, when Dave Wilson, Sam Payne, and
Patrick Lawson got together in turn three bringing out another red
flag. After a questionable restart with Cordon several car lengths
ahead of the field and only 7 laps remaining, Jenny was unable to
capture the lead and had to settle for a second place finish.

Racing scheduled for tonight had to be canceled due
to rain. Racing will resume next Saturday night, May 1, with a special
75 lap Late Model feature event presented by Odessa Pool & Spa. May 1
is also Fan Appreciation night, fans can look forward to an exciting
night of racing and 100+ prizes and giveaways!

She's Hot with Two in a Row!
It was a beautiful night for racing, but
unfortunately it didn't show in the Late Model car count. Due to the
low number, the eight Late Models all lined up in the same heat race
with Jenny bringing up the tail of the inside lane. Jon Knoll started
the race behind pole-setter Rod Cordon, who suffered mechanical
difficulty on the start allowing Knoll to jump out to an early lead.
Jenny quickly worked her way through the field to second, but was unable
to run down Knoll in the eight lap heat race. Based on last week's
results, Jenny then started the feature event from the outside of the
third row. Rick Carver who started from the outside of the second row
was able grab the lead on lap one, but with Jenny close in tow. Jenny
held the pressure on Carver until the last lap of the green to checkered
race when Carver lost control of his car coming out of turn four. Jenny
then grabbed the opportunity to take over and lead the final lap to
bring two in a row for the Jenny White Motorsports team!
4/10/04
Due to the wet weather and extreme cold
conditions, racing scheduled for tonight was canceled. Races will
resume next Saturday night.
4/03/04
The I-70 Speedway season opener started with
a full moon and cold temperatures. The Late Models began their night
with two heat races. The first was won by Jenny and the second was won
by the #86 of Buddy Benedict. For the feature race, 13 cars filled the
field with Jenny sitting on the pole. As they took the green flag to
start the race, Rod Cordon's #12 got into the back of Jenny's 17. She
was able to keep control of her car and continue on, but Cordon's #12,
the #48 of Patrick Lawson and the #52 of Sam Payne were all taken out of
the race. On the restart, Jenny and Benedict ran side by side for four
laps until she was able to pull ahead and lead all of the remaining
laps. On lap 30, Benedict tangled with the #65 of Ryck Sanders taking
both out of the race. Jenny went on to win the first race of the
season! |
